problems connecting to Minecraft

Hello I am currently running Sophos UTM home edition 9.003-16.
when my son tries to play Minecraft he is unable to see any servers to play online. when i bypass the firewall and plug straight into the cable modem he is able to see the servers. i am unsure as to why Astaro /Sophos would be blocking this. do i need to forward the ports ? He is not hosting the server just trying to play on other people's servers. 

I noticed the same issue with Steam and it being unable to login to the Steam Network as well.

    Hi Jag2000 and welcome to the Forum

    Do you use the proxy on a standard mode or transport? Also please have a look at the logs below once your son tries to make the connection 

    IPS
    Web filter 
    Firewall

    Firewall most likely will be blocking the ports needed (i.e. port 25565)
