Sophos IPS

Hi all,

Hope all is well.

I tried Sophos UTM,NETASQ UTM,ENDIAN UTM, UNTANGLE UTM,and CYBEROAM UTM and I found 2 things I hope Sophos could do them in thier UTM:

1- I can enable IPS inside Firewall rule.
2- I can specify a Username in Firewall instead of a Host or a group of Hosts.

So, my question is what the difference between Sophos UTM's IPS and thier IPS?

And what the advantages and disadvantages to embed IPS in Firewall rule.

    1 - In the UTM, have you looked at Application Control?
    2 - In the UTM, have you looked at the Sophos Authentication Agent with Username "(User Network)" objects?

    So, my question is what the difference between Sophos UTM's IPS and thier IPS?

    Perhaps you could ask that question differently.

    The advantage of application control is that it allows you to block or shape traffic based on patterns in the traffic instead of just the port that it's on.  The disadvantage is that this can require a lot of CPU cycles.
