[9.000] QoS not working?

Hiya

I have some QoS rules setup but they don't seem to be limiting the bandwidth use, people can still download and upload at full speed :-\

Below are the rules I have setup, am I doing something wrong? I tried doing it two different ways on two different networks but both can still download at full speed not the reduced.

    That's exactly the kind of insight needed, Andy.

    What we have are various networks for different areas of the company mainly servers, users and the developers.

    The issue we are finding is the developers will take all the bandwidth when doing uploads/downloads to our websites. This then causes issues for the users during the day.

    I suspect that the issue is the developer uploads.  Rather than all that, try turning off all but QoS rule 4 (dev) and changing the traffic selector to  '{developer subnet} -> Any -> {web servers}'.  Try with 'Upload Optimizer' disabled if you have that enabled.

    What does that give?

    PS And, yes, if that one rule doesn't solve the problem, put a bandwidth-limiting rule on the Internal interface for '{web servers} -> Any -> {developer subnet}' with 'Download Equalizer' both enabled and disabled.

    Gave the expected result, uploads were limited correctly :-) Works the same with and without the 'Upload Optimizer' enabled.

    The question now is how do I do this for the downloads? Seems from what you have said it needs to be on the internal interface? So just setup a rule as you mentioned in your post above on there interface and set the upload and download speed to "1048576" kbit/sec (should be 1 Gbps if i did my maths right) it wont affect there normal access to internal servers then use a traffic selector for the download?

    Does the 'Download Optimizer' work as expected if left on the WAN (external interface)?
