Simple automatic QoS (version8)

Hello,

I'm running asg120 (ha) with about 30 users, asynchronous 4mb wan, lan, dmz. Last week it was finally necessary to enable QoS, because there is too much traffic and to eg. open quick a website was like a casino situation. 

It's better now, but sometimes performance issues occurs, not so easy to reproduce, so it would be nice if one of you guys could approve my settings.

I simply edited/activated all of my interfaces with
4096 down and up with all further boxes checked.

Is there something wrong, if I simply want to share my bandwidth fair?

    Hi, the settings you have configured will balance the bandwidth among the users.

    If you want to provide a higher amount of bandwidth for specific devices or services, you can specify bandwidth pools with a minimum guaranteed bandwidth level for them.

    What is if i eg. disable the DMZ QoS settings - How would that be counted? Freedom for DMZ?

    1. In this situation, I would recommend that you start by eliminating all QoS checkbox settings on all interfaces except leave 'Download Equalizer' checked for the External interface.  Replace the speed settings for the Internal and DMZ interfaces with the actual speeds of the interfaces.

    2. On the External interface, create a QoS Bandwidth Pool guaranteeing 128kb to 'Any -> Web Surfing -> Any' traffic.

    3. Keep an eye on the Network Usage graphs in the Executive Reports.  If you see that the problem is heavy downloads from the DMZ by PCs in the LAN, then you'll need to define some new services like HTTP-Response=80->1:65535, put them into a services group Web Surfing Responses and then, on the Internal interface, create a Bandwidth pool guaranteeing 4096kb to 'Any -> Web Surfing Responses -> Internal (Network)' traffic.

    Did 1 and 2 solve your issue?  Was 3 necessary?  With all three, do you still have a problem?

    Sascha, in the past, you couldn't simultaneously select 'Upload Optimizer' and use Bandwidth pools on a given interface.  Do you know if that glitch has been fixed?

    The one thing from your link that I was going to suggest if he still had problems was the 'Download Equalizer' on the Internal interface.

    Anyway, these are the QoS settings I use with my clients that have similar problems.  Do you still have the same QoS configuration listed in your (very helpful!) link?
