Load balancer and default gateway as separate instances

Hi.  I have tried to have 1 instance of an Astaro be the default gateway for some VM's, and a separate Astaro instance to be the Load Balancer of incoming traffic. This did not work as the responses from the VM's did not make it back to the LB. So what I had to do, was make the LB also be the default GW.

Is that a real limitation, or is there something I can configure in either of the Astaro instances to make this work?

My goal is to leave load balancing instace do nothing but that, and leave room to potentially replace it with something else should performance or stability be an issue.

    It seems like you could use a static (policy?) route in the DG (or the balanced servers) to get the traffic back to the Load Balancer if it's not the DG.

    My goal is to leave load balancing instace do nothing but that, and leave room to potentially replace it with something else should performance or stability be an issue.

    This has been a part of Astaro for many years, so I'd be surprised if it had any stability problems.  If these are web servers, you might want to do a trial of Web Application Security - although the technology is not new, performance might be an issue for you, but reports are that it is very stable.
