Practicality of Country Blocking

With services such as Amazon AWS and similar products how can Country Blocking be used efficiently? Does anyone have any recommendations on how they have implemented this security feature into their environment?

    I find it to be extremely useful... However, the ability to add exceptions for certain hosts/networks really should be added.  Vote for that capability at feature.astaro.com.

    I agree and have voted for the feature or one like it already. How do you decide which country or region to block or not block? For instance, I had everything blocked except for the U.S. , England, Germany (for Astaro), and Canada; however, I found out that I could not download Adobe Reader because it was using a server in Ireland for the downloads. Is there a 'SOP' that you, or anyone else, would recommend?
