Need help in basic troubleshooting of an app that won't work

I am running Astaro 8.203 on a home network, which replaced a SonicWALL firewall.  Our kids play a game which stopped working after installing the Astaro.

I don't want this thread to be about how to get this one app working... rather, I would like some guidance on what general steps one should follow when trying to troubleshoot a problem like this.

On my old SonicWALL, when something didn't work right, I just looked at the Log (only one), and could usually spot the problem in short order.  Astaro has awesome logs, but so MANY!  I don't even know where to begin looking, there are so many.

If you were in this position, what would you try first?  What logs would you look at, and what would you look for?

    I have a list of exceptions as well..[[:)]]  Something the OP has to remember is that unlike 99% of the other products out there Astaro scans EVERYTHING http based.  This is why it's detection and stoppage of threats is so high.  The downside is yes it can cause issues.  If you put in an exception make sure you know for sure that site is truly a trusted AND secure site.  If it is not BOTH of these don't put in the exception..[[:)]]
