Hello, I have been having an issue with my Astaro installation and ssh for many months. I am running Astaro at home on ESXi 4.1, 3gb mem and 50gb disk. I have cox inet, 30/5 speeds (speedtest.net reports that the 30down/5up is correct with Astaro running and when I take Astaro out and use a Linksys router).
The problem I am having is specific to ssh through my Astaro gateway. I have setup ssh from [Any Internet] --> [Internal IP]. I've done the DNAT and the firewall rule. Connections from outside to my ssh server work great, no problems. All other aspects of my Astaro gateway appear to be working fine. I have an smtp server, that works great. IPS, web security, country blocking, all great features that I'm thrilled to have and all are working great.
The problem occurs when I try to pass any data through an ssh connection. I can connect just fine with either putty or winscp. If I use winscp to copy data through that connection winscp either goes extremely, incredibly, outstandingly slow, or it just outright times out over and over again.
In addition, I setup an ssh tunnel to RDP remotely to an internal IP through that ssh connection. When I invoke that tunnel to RDP to the internal IP the connections freezes up. Sometimes it works, sort of, but most of the time as soon as the RDP session is established through the ssh tunnel the ssh connection freezes up. It doesn't drop, just completely freezes.
This morning I pulled the plug on the Astaro Gateway and put my old Linksys router back in place. I tested the ssh connection this morning from the office and it works perfectly. The ssh tunnel stays up and active for my RDP session, and I can transfer large files back and forth through my ssh server using winscp.
