NAT with a Internal network with routable IPs

I inherited a network that has a Internal Private network of 192.195.100.0 /24.  Obviously 192.195.100.0 is a real public Internet range somewhere.   When I setup our ASG 220 and can't get any traffic to go outbound through it.  I think it's because even though I have a Masquerade rule for the internal network it's not masquerading the traffic.  i.e. it's sending it out using the 192.195.100.X addresses and so whatever service on the internet receives them it tries to replay back to the 192.195.100.x address and obviously doesn't reach us.

I their way way around this?  Some way to force the Astaro to treat the 192.195.100.0 as a private network.

Yes I realize the correct solution would be to change the Internal Private IP range.

    try creating an SNAT for the entire network.

    dilandau, I know that will work, but shouldn't we wonder why his masq rule isn't working?

    On the Dashboard, you can click on the display of interface k/mbit and bring up the bandwidth monitor - that will show you what source IPs are going out your interface.  Or, you could do tcpdump -i eth1 at the command line.  Did that confirm that your masq rule isn't working?

    Is the LAN network 192.195.100.0/24? Or is that a separate internal network?

    Thanks for the help but i found out my problem was not due to the Internal IP's being routable. It had to do with the NAT though, I have two WAN connections on 2 separate interfaces and they are in a uplink balancing setup.  I had the Nat masquarading rule setup to have a interface of one of the WAN ports and not "Uplink Interfaces" as soon as I changed it to "uplink Interfaces" then it worked fine.

    Although I do have another question that is kind of related. I have another internal network (192.168.56.0/24) and I would like it to use a specific Public IP when it does it's Masquerading. The public IP that I want it to use is not one of the "primary Addresses" of the Wan interfaces it is a Secondary IP on the WAN2 interface.  If I setup the Masquerading setup for this internal network to use the "WAN2" interface and then pick that address nothing will pass except port 80 and I can only assume that is able to pass because of the Transparent Web filtering I also have on that network.  I assume the fact that the Two interfaces are in a uplink balanced setup that I can't masquerade of a specific IP address?  I guess I need to put that Public IP on another physical interface?

    Hi,
    iirc Masq only works on primary interfaces, so you'd probably need an SNAT for this.

    I wouldn't recommend another interface on the same (EXT) network, it can cause problems.

    Not that I doubt you but why does it let you even specify the "use Address" parameter if really Masquerading will only work with the Primary Address? It also appears that even if you specify the Primary address of the wan interface instead of a secondary address and those interfaces are part of a Uplink Balancing group it will still not work.  i.e. really you should not be able to specify ANY of the Wan interfaces in the 'Interface" part of the Masquerading setup that are part of a uplink Balancing group let alone secondary IP's that are attached to that wan interface.

    Barry, this is one of the new things in V8 - the ability to choose the address.

    Dan, you need two masq rules - one for each of your WAN interfaces as you can't both choose "Uplink interfaces" and specify a single address on one of them.
