Ping duplicates

I'm setting up a nagios server in the internal network.
I want to check several services of a server in a secondary network of the firewall.

The nagios server reports in unregularly intervalls duplicate ping packets.

Has anyone an idea why there are duplicate packets when I ping through the firewall and if I place the server in the internal network this behavior is gone?

    I solved the problem:

    It was not the firewall!!!

    After a deep dive examining all the packets routed from the nagios server to the server in the secondary network of the firewall I noticed that the firewall already got two ping requests and replayed to them.

    So I decided to double-check the switches between the nagios server and the firewall. 
    They are correctly configured. I found no error.
    I decided to update the firmware of the core switches.
    After this update all duplicate pink packets are gone.
