FTP uploads very slow

Hello Helpers!

Right to the point:

We are using v.7.507 on a ASG320 and web proxy, IPS, QoS.
We have an Internet pool of two gateways (1x dedicated line S-DSL á 6MBit/s and 1x Telekom A-DSL 16Mbit/s;800kbit/s).

And we are not sure at all whether we use the full capacity of these bandwith at all.

I.e. wherever we upload something to the Internet via FTP is very slow (~ 30-90kbyte/s).

Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test it works way faster(!) without using the http proxy, too, as it is with the proxy filter.

How could I optimize that...? Or at least: Why is FTP that slow...?

    Hi,

    I thought that Speedtest.net used HTTP rather than FTP for the upload test (I might be wrong).  Check the FTP proxy settings under Web Security.  Have you enabled FTP anti-virus scanning?

    Oh, speedtest.net ist just HTTP but this "problem" is a general one it seems. 

    We found out that in our specific case the destination FTP server was actually "slow".
    No FTP Proxy internally by the way.

    But we still have the problem with the HTTP traffic. With proxy: far slower Internet access than without (but proxy has to be used for users).

    Hi, speedtests will normally show as slower with the proxy due to anti-virus scanning, etc.

    Try some real-world tests such as manually timing loads of pages on the internet.

    You might also try turning on caching in the http proxy.

    Yeppers, same result.

    PS: Caching turned on already.

    It's getting more and more frustrating....
