Simple question about QoS

I have a simple question about QoS. I have a 2mbit "guaranteed" optic fiber internet connection, so it is symmetric. In QoS I have set:

Total available uplink bandwidth: 2048 kbits/sec
Total available downlink bandwidth: 2048 kbits/sec

In the dashboard I see 1.9mbit as top speed (well, in the report of WAN interface I see 1.99mbit). In your opinion this little difference from 1.99 and 2.0 could make QoS not working properly? I don't know how exactly QoS works, but in my mind if I set a bandwidth that cannot be reached from ASG, perhaps it cannot manage correctly the allocation of bandwidth. In this case, could I have some benefits reducing the maximum bandwidth from 2048 to... (i.e.) 2000kbit/sec?

    I really hope that Astaro clarify this because we get a lot of questions about QoS and as you said Bob there is a lot of guessing 
    so please if someone from Astaro could write a document about this that would be terrific !

    I opened a support ticket and I want to share their reply.

    Our guessing was correct, if ASG will never reach the maximum bandwidth set, download equalizer will never work.

    "If you have a real avaiable bandwidth of 2047 and configure 2048 and the 2048 will never be reached, than this could make the download equalizer not work.
    In my opinion this is right, this could cause problems. Because for the Qos there would be no congestion if the 2048 is not reached. And so no packets would be dropped/queued correctly.

    I would advise to set the bandwidth to 2000 kbit in this case, right."

    In the meanwhile, we upgraded to 4mbit connection. My ISP said that available bandwith will be 3968kbit/sec, but considering that with 2 fiber channels the encapsulation loss will be much more than with 1 channel (this said the ISP technician), I set 3924. 

    Hope it works [:)]

    EDIT: Perhaps would be better to write clearly this behaviour in webadmin, or at least in manuals. [;)]
