locked_out.pdf does not seem to be correct

hi all,
I just got referred a new client with an Astaro V7 on a whitebox pc. he knows no passwords. so I found the doc locked_out.pdf 
I am have trouble with this doc, after point 6) press 'b' to boot the change password screen does not appear, the Astaro continues to boot up. and does not let me reset the root and loginuser passwords.
Am I doing something wrong or does someone know another way how to reset all passwords while infront of the console?

    After pressing "b" you will get a command prompt and not the change password stuff. You have first to enter "passwd loginuser" / "passwd root".

    If you don't get the command prompt but the normal login, your kernel options (init=/bin/bash) were incorrect.
