Portscanning doesn't detect open ports

I've configured an Astaro Gateway, and use an external port scanner to check my solution. I've opened up port 25 (smtp) for my internal mail relay. But when I run an external port scanner (Shields up at Home of Gibson Research Corporation) It does not detect any open ports, but when I explicitly specify port 25 it finds the open ports. Is this as result of Astaro's built in security?

GRC's port scanning will not work properly if you are running it through the proxy. IE: the PC you are using to initiate the scan sits behind the (a) proxy. I would go to another location and scan your external IP with Nmap.

I experience some of the same things when I scan from the inside as well. Nmap does not detect any open ports, but Nessus finds port 25 open.

Astaro might be detecting a port scan and not answering.(?)

Just scan for port 25 and no others.

See if that works.
