No Internet Access - IPS & AV Patterns tested by Astaro?

My Customers and me lost over 3 hours of working time this morning because of this buggy IPS rules produced by Astaro.
We expect that a product like Astaro (with Prices around some thousend $) is testing their Patches before deployment. Otherwise we have problems to sell Astaro anymore if incidents like this repeat. Also in case of such a major error like this morning an alarm mail to all registered astaro customers would be the right way to react.

    Some bad news for you:
    1) They obviously do not test it properly.
    2) It looks like the same or a very similar problematic update was released to the Beta community a day earlier (yesterday). Nobody drew conclusions out of that.
    3) Astaro could not send out any communication or post a notice accessible to its user community because they themselves were impacted by the problem they created (Their websites etc. were offline for several hours).
    4) Even now you will have to run with a work-around in place because the problematic rules in the definitions have actually still not been fixed. However, Astaro appears to be lieve that the problem has been resolved. They have probably tested it with the workaround in place!

    So, if you had not ben affected by the problem up until now, you probably will be soon...

    Ad. 3. Even if they could, no one would be able to receive the mail, all my installations could not get any mail through. Internet access was impacted too.
    ad. 4. This is also a big issue in my opinion. I have tested that you could just enter the IPS system after it has been disabled, and apply the 2 rule blocks. Then go to Management -> Up2Date, and wait for the pattern update.
    When it arrives, just enable the IPS with the rule blocks in place, and then there should be no donwtime.

    But my concern is with the systems that already have this error. I have a site with a huge amount of Astaro's that is in another time zone than me, an therefore hasn't woken up to the problem yet. 
    As I understand it, the error blocks the Up2Date process, so they will have to enter the fix on all boxes, or will they "heal themselves" in time?

    And what about the rule blocks? When can we delete those? Now?

    Well - I know I cannot remove them yet without getting the same isue all over again. My system is currently on Firmware 7.504 and Pattern version 12406.

    I did notice that Astaro has just posted Firmware 7.505, but I will not be updating to that yet given the recent trackrecord they have with testing their changes.
