ATTENTION: Pattern 12403 / 12404 may kills you almost everything

Today morning, all VPN's were down on our Astaros. Customers had no access to the Internet. Connection to AAC was lost.

The reason was a buggy pattern update (once more). Pattern 12403 and 12404 kills you almost everything! So take care!

I had the exact same issue on my V8 beta machine and thought then: What a luck they didn't made this buggy pattern update on the productive systems. And now what they did? They deployed the buggy pattern to all productive systems. GREAT!! Thats what i love on Friday mornings...

If you have the same issue, the only way is to connect to the Astaro directly and disable IPS. Big luck that remote login was still possible.

    We had the same problem with 10 of our customers and we couldn’t believe what was wrong.
    This is a big mistake from the otherwise so good astaro. 
    No we are afraid of using IPS.

    Yup.

    My home network died this evening.  Disabled IPS and traffic started flowing again.

    I think this probably has something to do with it:
    2010:05:06-21:23:57 none snort[29508]: FATAL ERROR: Warning: /etc/snort/rules/astaro.rules(2992) => Unknown keyword ' detection_filter' in rule!

    Is it the leading space?  I don't know.  Don't feel like researching it.
