Limit http bandwidth

Hi,

I have two interfaces  and http proxy enabled. I need to  limit bandwidth web browsing and even at certain timetable.

Can I use QoS to do this? At QoS I can see my running nic.

    Hi, since you're using the http proxy, you'd want to configure QOS for the proxy port(s) on the Internal and External interfaces.

    I believe there are some other posts about it on these forums; try google:

    The Astaro is better when you prefer some traffic instead of limiting other traffic.  Please specify the traffic you want to prefer and the traffic you want to limit.

    I have x simetric  bandwidth with my ISP. There are some LAN ip ranges, ne of them DHCP assigned. This ip range 192.168.158.220 to 230 must be limited http traffic to certain x kbit up and x kbits down.

    Any idea?

    Now this range can use all  bandwidth available and is a problem for network performance.

    I understand that you want to acheive better performance for some users; what are their complaints?  What is too slow for them?

    Hi,

    Graduation ??? congratulations!!!!! my friend.

    Users from this ip range assinged by DHCP, are using to much internet http bandwith. It´s a problem and I need to  avoid this problem with a http limit upload and download.

    Is possible with astaro?

    How? Using QoS?

    You can create new traffic selectors based on source IP, which would allow you to limit their traffic, after you create an applicable network definition with those addresses in it.  Using this, you can set a max total bandwidth for the bandwidth pool you set to use the new traffic selector(s).
     
    As far as setting a max download and max upload speed, you can only do this for interfaces.  If you can redo the physical ethernet connection for this group of users to connect them to their own interface on your Astaro box, you could achieve your goal.

    then.. resuming bandwith limit control only can be applied per nic interface? not per ip or ip range assigned by dhcp?

    If yes, is a pity....

    I posted yesterday a new idea at idea bank with this topic.

    Other similar products like safesquid and more have this option available. I switched from safesquid to astaro!!
