Hi - I have a quick question.

I have two private networks setup on my Astaro and I need them to be able to communicate and share resources like a network printer and DC.

I have setup different bandwidth and content filtering rules for each network on my Astaro but I need the two networks to talk and share resources.

I have added two packet filer rules, one to communicate via all ports to the other and vise versa.

Will this work? Do I only need to setup these two packet filter rules? Will the bandwidth and content filtering rules still be unique for each network due to the separate gateways?

    Hi,

    Everything seems to be working perfectly and as expected.

    I am having one issue and it's around PXE boot. The Windows server has an active DHCP that is PXE enabled and the conflict detection is set to 1 so that the Astaro DHCP would had out addresses first then if it goes down or if there is a PXE request then the Windows DHCP would respond. I have this working flawlessly, I actually do this in most of my network setups and none give me an issue.

    I have a setup in which the server can only reside on one network segment and cannot sit in middle and be connected directly to all other networks. I have setup the Astaro with the packet filter rules as described above and all seems to work perfectly, except the PXE boot. Machines that are already running are able to get IP's from the Windows DHCP on the other segment without any issues and sharing all the resources works perfectly also.

    Because I could not get the PXE boot to work I changed things a bit, I turned off the Astaro DHCP and made the Windows DHCP the primary but still no luck. I changed all the settings to be as basic as possible, still no luck. I even tried to use the DHCP relay in the Astaro, which does not make sense but I thought I would try anyways, still no luck.

    The PXE boot works every time I directly connect to the immediate network segment. It does not seem to work one hop away. If your sharing networks or using DHCP relays it should not matter how many hops away your DHCP with PXE is from the network, it should work. 

    Am I missing something in the Astro setup? 

    Being that the DHCP works for other clients this must mean that port 67 and 68 are traversing fine but I am getting a DHCP error and not a non responsive error so I am wondering if the Astaro is somehow blocking DHCP option 60 from traversing from one segment to the other.

    Any ideas?
