[7.502][solved]DNS Question

Hi All

I am getting multiple "too many timeouts resolving /A' (in 'gr'?): disabling EDNS " . However, when using the packet capture I can see multiple connections to my open DNS

On my DNS tab the setting is as follows:

Allowed networks:Internal and VPN pool
Forwarders: OPENDNS (untick forwarders assigned by ISP box)
I am using DYNDNS as well

Can someone confirm what needs to be done in order to stop getting so many timeouts on the DNS logs? I can see multiple old posts regarding timeout issues but unable to find the root cause

Hmm... I've got lots of those errors too on 7.306 (using our ISP's forwarders), but none at home using OpenDNS.

a guess: maybe a reflection or cache poisoning DNS attack?

Wingman, try an OpenDNS-type service closer to you.

I've used namebench adn I don't have a better/faster open DNS to use

I've changed my forwarders to ultraDNS and I am getting much less "too many timeouts resolving /A' (in 'gr'?): disabling EDNS" messages . I therefore Assume It's was openDNS causing the issue.I will try to add google DNS later to compare the results.

Wingman, try an OpenDNS-type service closer to you.

opendns is anycasted with multiple locations throughout the world. if he's in the uk they have at least one cluster in the uK.
OpenDNS > System (also available at http://208.69.38.170/)

nOds. ultradns is now dyndns so we'll see how that transition goes..[:)]

I am using Advantage DNS (ultradns) Which to my knowledge is different to dyndns
