Share printer between networks?

Hey all,

I know this should be simple, but I have a Network printer on eth0 (Internal0) that I would like to give access to one PC on eth3 (TestNet).

How would I go about this? I have tried:

DNAT
Traffic selector: PC1→ NetworkPrinting→PrinterIP
Destination translation: Dest: PrinterIP
Automatic packet filter rule: Yes
Initial packets are logged: No

and a few other variations. I even tried with the "Any" service just to see if it worked.

I'm sure someone must have the answer. Thanks!

  • Hi, you shouldn't need DNAT between LANs; only a packetfilter rule.

Does the printer have the gateway set to the Astaro Internal0 IP?

Check the packetfilter log to see what's getting dropped.

  • I did try packet filter sorry I forgot to mention that.

So I said to myself: self. the default gateway should be set to internal0's IP, but I didn't set it up so lets double check....

No it wasn't. It was set to its own IP address for some reason.

So I fixed it and Success!

Thanks for the help BarryG! Wish I had someone here I could bounce ideas like that off of! But that's what the forums are for right?
