VoIP QOS Help

Hey guys, me again. [;)] Need some help with QOS this time and I am not finding anything helpful in the forums, and even less help in the docs. I have a WAN connection with 10Mb/1Mb. I would like to prioritize my VoIP traffic and I can't seem to figure out how the QOS is supposed to work. I created a traffic selector for RTP and set the up/down speed limits on the wan interface but I don't know where to go from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I am trying the same (SIP and IAX)
    Have made a traffic selector using the VOIP Protocols service group.

    Set a rather low bandwidth pool to test and even a modest bittorrent upload will break up the audio.

    Then set the traffic selector to ALL between the local Voip and the remote Voip. Still bad.

    Decreased the "total available uplink bandwidth" and it got worse.

    Can not get any QOS action.

    Hi,
    Make sure you're catching ALL the BT traffic; note that many peers won't be running on standard BT ports, so you probably need at least 2 definitions:
    1. source your PC w your BT port, dest any/any
    2. source any/any, dest your PC w your BT port

    I must be doing something wrong.

    Set up a traffic selector for IAX (Always port 4569 both ways) and a large pool.

    Voice is interrupted by even web requests. As little as 10 kB up bittorrent traffic destroys the inteligibility.

    Have heard that bittorrent is so "bursty" that most QOS do not even recognize it.

    Was hoping that Astaro could guarantee a clear voice channel, but I am not as confident.

    Hi all,

    I can suggest to inspect what happens on the Astaro interfaces with iftop (from the console).
    If eth0 is your external nic, you can try:

    iftop -BPNn -i eth0

    After that, start your VoIP and BT sessions....

    iftop is the best program to understand the bandwidth usage on the firewall...

    Also this http://portal.knowledgebase.net/display/2n/kb/article.asp?aid=293190&n=6&s=1 is a good
    guide to configure QoS even if it is related to IPSec VPN.
