Bittorrent issue again... but for the whole Internal network

Hi all,

I've found a lot of manuals here on how to set up correct bittorrent traffic handling... but all these manuals are talking about one PC w/ torrent-client.

Is it possible to create some kind of rule(s) in order all internal network (192.168.1.0/24) can use torrent? One or few rules for all PCs... I don't like to create separate rules for every PC [:)].

What say?

    Hi, BitTorrent will work if you just allow outgoing traffic on the appropriate port, however it will not be fast unless you create an incoming DNAT for each client, using a different port for each.
    You'll need to set the unique incoming port on the bittorrent app, and on each DNAT.

    SOCKS might be another option.

    It will be better if it works slowly than !works at all [[:)]].

    However, why a lot of another gateway solution do not have this problem?

    For instance, there was a pfSense before I've set up Astaro. And with pfSense - bittorrent works just fine.

    What is the key difference? (pfSense is FreeBSD-based solution).

    Since ASG version 7.2 you can specify the networks for P2P in the menue IM-P2P. Please define your internal network in menue “IM-P2P/Settings” and allow Bittorrent in menue “Peer to Peer”. That´s it.

    Of course I did exactly as Lutz said - with no result [[:)]].

    And about SOCKS! If I turn the SOCKS on and force all Torrent-clients in the office to use SOCKS - will it work good for all?

    SOCKS should work as long as the clients all support it.

    When you say it's not working...
    Do you have Masquerading setup?
    Do you have PacketFilter rules to allow the outgoing traffic?
