Hi
I know I can get Skype, MSN, everything to work perfectly by setting up a LAN -> ANY = ALLOW rule.
I do Not want to do that as I want to learn how to control Outgoing Traffic Too.
Over the past 1 year, I managed to setup everything to work as in as far as possible use the HTTP, POP, SMTP and FTP Proxy.
For a small number of stuff, I set exceptions and specific packet filter rule from specific device, specific traffic, port and destination to get them to work.
But I can't figure out a way to get SKYPE and MSN (Voice / Video) to work.
I tried SOCKS (With and without authentication)
The problem I face is
1) SOCKS even though seems to work as in Skype and MSN can establish calls, the quality is unacceptabe at all, really far too bad.
2) SOCKS if I set authentication and configure on the MSN / Skype Clients, as it is Uncrypted, when it is on other networks, it throws the username and password out into other network as clear text.
Please advice how do you all configure Skype / MSN to work but without simply allowing all outgoing traffic?
Thank You[H]
