Stealth NTP proxy?

Now that Astaro has fixed the stable time problem.......

Can the Astaro NTP server be setup to intercept all calls for NTP and return them with its time?

(without any changes to to the clients)

It seems every application is asking for time and this could serve them all.

Hi,
the simple answer is no. The ASG NTP functions as a time server not a proxy. Therefore, for your applications and network devices to use the ntp function they must be told about it.
At this stage the ASG DHCP server does not hand out information about timeservers.
You will need your own dhcp server on a different box to tell the devices about the time server function.

This might be possible with NAT, but the client would still have to have been configured to use _some_ timeserver.

e.g. Source LAN, dest ANY, dest service NTP, change dest to Astaro Internal Interface.
