Packet filter groups not in alpha nor numeric order

Hello,

I'm afraid this upgrade was not as simple as the last several for me at least...

Here is my problem. When looking in the "Definitions" tab, all of the  IP addresses are in logical order and all of the alphabetic descriptions are in alphabetical order.

but...

When I open a group from within a packet filter rule in order to see the ip addresses inside of the group, they are not ordered at all. New rules are placed in neither logical nor alphabetic order.

When opening a group the process is very slow.

However, when the directory/folder icon left of the green plus icon is opened (from within a group), all of the IP addresses and names are again in proper order.

What is the cause of this?

What is the solution?

Does this have anything to do with the database issue quoted below?

"After making changes to these settings, you have to wait at least 12-18 hours, as the database maintenance process runs twice a day, which than will do the reduction of the database size. During this process, the system is fully operational."

    More good news...facetiously spoken...

    After a complete reinstall from the ISO, nothing changed. The groups inside a packet filter rule still do not put in order the ip addresses contained therein, nor do they put in order the alphabetic entries.

    Opening a group takes way too long.

    As Barry suggested, screenshots would help us to see the issue.

    As far as a slow GUI, have you enabled any of the new features?

    Also, have you checked the system log for errors, or at least hints?

    As you can plainly see, the IP addresses, the alphabetic lists, and other types (combo) of info are NOT in order when looking at them from a group.

    I have enabled the https scanning. That is the only "new" feature.

    I no idea which log might contain data that would give any clue as to why data is in order when using "Definitions" or "(ctrl-z)", but is not in order when opening a group within a packet filter.

    I would be glad to look if you could point me to the correct log.

    Hi Jim,

    The group order hasn't changed behavior between 7.3 and 7.4 on the systems.  The group order is always related to how the services or networks were ordered when moved into the group definition.

    I wish that were the case, but it is not. When opening a group inside of a packet filter, the ip addresses and the alphabetical listings were ALWAYS sorted in logical or alphabetic order (always, 100% of the time).

    This is the first time they have not been in order.

    I'm really not trying to be argumentative, but have you ever actually looked inside a group residing in a packet filter before?

    While I am reluctant to do so, I would be willing to reinstall an earlier version, and send you the snap shots to prove this. That is if everyone else at Astaro believes as you believe. Please ask around first.

    You are correct, my memory was faulty which is why we depend on technology [;)]

    Loaded up a vmware I had of 7.306 system and compared to current 7.400 and now I see what the ordering is referenced to.  Indeed when placed side by side the alphabetical ordering has changed to random.

    Which leads me (and probably the Astaro engineers) to believe that there may be an out of the ordinary db problem to solve with regard to 7.4. This includes the ISO and not just the upgrade.

    Thanks for looking. I really did not want to reload 7.306 to prove the problem.
