I setup my Astaro (v7.305)whitebox recently, and not being a network ninja, I had issues of course. My most troublesome issue was with eMule. I had set the application's TCP and UDP port, but after setting up the ports in my Astaro definitions/Packet filters/NAT rules, I could not get a connection to an eMule server for anything. Then it dawned on me: the server address in the application has a port other than the one I use. It does not reach out for a server connection on your port, but on the one in the server list itself.
Lots of servers use different ports, but the some of the eDonkey servers use 4242 as the port. So I added it to my def's, packet filters, and NAT rules, and set the priority in eMule for those servers to high so they will try to connect to those servers first. Problem solved.
There probably is a more elegant way to do this, but Astaro was dropping packets like mad, and I am no network ninja. [:)]
