Uplink failover with static and dynamic WAN ports.

Hey All -

Let me explain my scenario :-

I have installed ASG 7.0 ( latest_asg_v7_software.iso ) from ftp://ftp.astaro.de/pub/Astaro_Secur...appliance/iso/ .

I have two WAN ports - WAN1 & WAN2.

I want to do uplink failover with WAN1 & WAN2.

Once I define WAN1 as a static IP and WAN2 as a dhcp IP then failover does not happens but vice versa ( WAN1 as a dhcp IP and WAN2 as a static IP) works.

I dont understand why its not happening and where I am wrong?

Would request to all of you please look into my query and help me.

Thanks in advance.

  • Interesting.  I wonder if design criteria prevent using a DHCP IP for a failover.  Does anyone know if it should be possible to have a DHCP IP as a failover?

    Thanks - Bob
