My virtual Astaro (VMware) has the following 4 interfaces:
LAN - 192.168.198.2/24
DMZ - 10.7.0.2/24
External - PPPOE
External Management - 192.168.1.4/24
First of all, External and External Management are both bridged to the same physical adapter. One of them establishes the pppoe-connection via a dsl modem connected to that adapter/interface, another is used as a regular interface to route between the LAN and that modem...
...because that modem also has some more features I'd like to use. But that would require to have regular access to it over ip (192.168.1.3).
Astaro can ping the modem, but no LAN computer behind Astaro.
A traceroute from a LAN machine always ends at 192.168.198.2
Am I totally missing something? I don't need any routes, do I? A packet filter rule at the top allows all traffic to that modem and the packet filter live log doesn't show up anything dropped.
I don't have the slightest idea why it's not working. Anyone of you?
