Exchange Server Setup

I have read many post on this website to look for my answer and I have found some things that might answer my question. However none of them fully answer what I'm looking for. Here is my question. I have an existing network setup with an Astaro Firewall with Astaro version 7. The network works great. I have recently installed an Exchange Server to this network. The internal users can use the Exchange server to send emails and receive emails of all types (internal and external). What I want is to setup some Exchange accounts from outside of the local network. I have a public IP address setup for my Astaro Firewall. I can also access my firewall with the name of exchange.companyname.com. What I want to do is to be able to access my Exchange server from the outside world (ie. setup an outlook account using the exchange server). I have come across some info about DNAT settings and forwarding ports, but I'm not 100% confident seeing this is my first time doing this. Can anyone give me some step by step instructions for this setup with my Astaro firewall, and any settings I need to implement with my Exchange Server 2003?

My exchange server is setup with all of the default settings and can be accessed internally using http://servername/Exchange via TCP port 80.

I have forwarded port 80 HTTP to my exchange server. Now I can access the OWA. Now all I need to know is what ports or services I need to forward to setup a local account in Outlook that connects to the exchange server. Any help would be great.

In Exchange 2003 they called it outlook over rpc. With the Exchange 2007 they call it outlook anywhere.

I went to the websites that you recommended and it looks like what I want to setup. My only question is will this strategy work on Windows Mobile phones?

It should work on mobile phones now without any additional work. Do you have a mobile phone that you have tested it on?

I did test this on a mobile phone and it works fine. I didn't have to configure RPC over HTTP/S. Thanks for all the help, you all were very helpful.

I've tried to setup that RPC thing some years ago. It didn't work. Since then I've sticked to use vpn connections what seems to be much more profitable. Image you have Outlook open and connected to an Exchange and now you want to use an smb share?

With your Astaro you can do VPN's and setup Outlook to access Exchange across the tunnel. And through that same VPN you can access your server or other devices and work with them.

Alternatively, doing RPC over HTTPS doesn't require anything else, and doesn't grant access to anything else as a VPN could be configured to do.
