DHCP Server Not Working

Have a 7.103 distro installed on an adequately powered box (2.4GHz - 1.25GB RAM).  When I manually assign a client in the 192.168.2.x range I can access WebAdmin through eth0.

eth1 is active and has the proper IP from a cable modem.  eth0 shows it is active and functioning.  The DHCP is set up for internal (WINS B). Http is setup for transparent.

Everything seems like it should work.  However when I hook any device up to the switch (off of eth0) it can only get a self assigned (non functional) address.

How can I get my ASG to act as a DHCP server?

On booting the machine the only "failed" issue is with
usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw)     failed

Hi,

Maybe you could post a screenshot of the the dhcp configuration in the astaro and check the dhcp logs in Logging > View Log files > DHCP, as they may indicate if there is an issue with the dhcp service on the astaro.

Without seeing screenshots, no idea as to why your DHCP appears to not be functioning... the USB error message you listed is normal... that's part of the routine that detects if you have a USB stick plugged in with a configuration to restore.

Here are the screenshots.  I went to the DHCP log and I could only get a live view.  It is a home network but a busy one.  I have to bring down the connection to get the rest of the network to put it into the astaro.  Maybe I can do this later if the screenshots do not give any clues.

for whatever reason the mysql service now fails on bootup.  Related?

When I shutdown I use root access and just do a shutdown -h now.  Is that what I should do?

while you can shutdown from the console, it's actually a menu function in Webadmin; that's where I shut it down.

Not saying this is the problem, but try setting the range to something that does not include the internal IP of the Astaro on which you are setting up DHCP....

Since I had not done a lot of work to the firewall I reintalled it from the iso. I limited the DHCP to the first 25 addresses. It works fine. I am not sure which fixed the problem but it works.
