Looking for script based reconnect of pppoe Interface

Hi,

I'm looking for a script which will reconnect my pppoe DSL Line. Is this possible? I'm using V 7.104. There is a button in Network/Interfaces which will reconnect the pppoe Interface. So from my point of view there must be a way?

Searching this forum just show me older hints which won't work in the actual Astaro Version.

Any ideas?

    Hi CH,
    there is nothing wrong with the guys from Astaro.
    1/. The PPPoE interface has an automatic re-connect feature.
    2/. you haven't spelt out you requirement for a script.
    3/. I would suggest you have a read of the manual that is part of the installed ASG or check the FAQs.

    Hi Ian M,

    thanks for your reply. I know that there is a automatic reconnect, and i checked the Manual and the faq´s. But there was no solution for my problem. I found the old thread from 2005, but i don´t want to reboot my astaro after reconnecting. I just want to knwo what happened, when i press the reconnect button in Section Network/Interfaces. I need this script due to the special requirement, changing my ip more than one time in 24 hours.

    Hi Ch,
    please be a bit more specific. You can setup the ASG to re-connect automatically after a line drop and you can set it up for an automatic line drop/re-connect.

    The 2005 thread more than like refers to v6 and isn't relevant to v7. The whole re-connect process was changed in v7.

    Hi Ian M,

    sorry i was unable to answer the last days.

    In some circumstands i need a "fresh" ip, e.g. starting another download on a download server. Therefor i need a script for reconnecting PPPOE/DSL because my provider will assign a new external ip to my PPPOE Interface after reconnecting. From my point of view it make sense to try this way.

    0. external IP is not "good" or "fresh" enough
    1. script based connect via ssh from my internal winclient to my asl box
    2. script based su to user root
    3. script based reconnect of the pppoe/DSL interface
    4. Done and Fine!
