New User - Email Question

I setup 7.1 on a machine this weekend.  Everything seems to be working pretty well except my client machine using Outlook cannot download email through SSL to GMAIL.  I have packet filter rules setup to allow connections on the correct ports 995 and 465.  I have tried email proxy on and off no luck.  Is there something I am missing.  I am getting "cannot find server" error messages from Outlook.

    You will probably need to open 110 and 25.
    Outlook being a very dumb networking application will want 110 open unless you have configured it otherwise and even then I am very skeptical about MS's ability to get networking correct. Just look at Vista.
