Astaro v7.101 not working with Linksys WRT54G

Home system setup:

Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem (Optimum Online ISP)

Astaro v7.101
Dell PIII 512MB MEM 40GB HD
eth0 3Com 3c905 Internal Standard ethernet -> Linksys WRT54G LAN port
eth1 3Com 3c905 External Cable Modem config -> Motorola cable modem

Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router

Using default 192.168.1.0 private address with Linksys and ISP DHCP IP and DNS addresses on eth1.

IBM and Dell Notebooks - Windows 2000 and XP

We had no problems with Astaro ISO installation and WebAdmin wizard installation. Using masquerading rule Internal Network to Any. Accepted wizard NAT rules, including allow web surfing Internal Network to Any. Cannot browse to the Internet. Every thing works fine when using the notebooks, Linksys and cable modem (no Astaro).

turn off dhcp on the linksys and turn off the firewall.  hook up the linksys via one of the ethernet ports and do not use the  linksys's wan port at all.  let the astaro box do your natting.

Is your DNS on the clients pointing to the IP of the Linksys or Astaro?  It needs to be pointed to the Astaro.  Also make sure the Internal Network is on the "Allowed Networks" list (NETWORK --> DNS --> GLOBAL) and the DNS Forwarders on the Astaro are correct (NETWORK --> DNS --> FORWARDERS put a check mark next to the "Use forwarders assigned by ISP").

Thanks for the reply. We followed the suggestions from Williams post and we are now up and running.

The problem is that the connection is really slow when using the wireless and
sometimes its slow when I connect physically to the lan (switch part of router).
The wireless takes forever to connect to the AP as well.

This is what I have done so far
I disabled the dhcp on the router.
Turned off all rules for the firewall. (on router)
Have the ASG hooked up to the lan on the router.
Set the nat rules up for it like I did on the my d-link switch.

So I was wondering maybe my rules are wrong or is it the router.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

The fix for this might be as simple as getting in to the right mind set. 

Stop using the Linksys router functions all together. The only thing you should be using on that Linksys appliance is the wireless functions in Access Point mode. You can even set the Linksys appliance to get its IP address via DHCP from your Astaro box if you like. It doesn't need a static address unless you really have a reason for it.

Things to turn off in the Linksys appliance:

uPnP
DHCP server
NAT
Parental controls
The list may go on and on, just think in the terms if it has nothing to do with the AP portion of the setup you don't need it.

Make sure there are no other devices in the mix that would cause an un-reported conflict of IP addresses or services.

Example might be: A switch that could have an IP address of 10.20.1.1 and the router AP could have the same address...

Make sure you're using min. of 10/100 network interfaces. 

On your Astaro box turn on DNS/DHCP and NTP if you need a time server. (Network >> DNS | Network >> DHCP)
Follow the directions for setting up a DHCP service with Astaro and you should be good.

If you do the above that should resolve any conflicts that "might" be causing your slow downs. 

Also, are you using the WWW Proxy in Astaro?
