How to transfer an ASG configuration to another ASG

The following questions explore the ease with which a well configured ASG installation can be used as the starting point for configuring another ASG.  Can the backup of one ASG (obtained through e-mail I assume), be restored to another ASG?  How is the change of MAC addresses handled?  If this works, are there some recommended starting point configurations for typical applications?

    A backup can be restored to completely different hardware, as long as the new hardware has at least as many NICs.
    MAC addresses, drivers, etc., will be picked up from new hardware.

    You can use a backup file from email or from webmin, and restore it via the webmin.
    Recent versions can also restore an unencrypted backup file if placed on a USB thumbdrive before booting.
