How good is Astaro's Intrusion Protection?

I'm currently using Clarkconnect Home 4.1, it integrates snort+snortsam to block attacks, and seems to do a pretty good job of picking up and blocking several attacks a day on my home network.

I'm thinking of switching to Astaro 7.0, I like the product but would need a beefier machine to run it most likely... is the IP in A7 as good, will it actively block attackers in a similar way?

  • The IPS in V7 (and previous versions, for that matter) is Snort... should be comparable to what you've experienced with other Snort installations.

  • AFAIK yes it will.  You might have to upgrade your machine a bit depending on your network and the hardware of your machine though.
