Astaro V7 + Linksys WRT54G + Cable Modem..?

OK this is the way I have the cable ran

motorola cable modem -> astaro v7 gateway ->  the input on the Linksys WRT54G -> Wireless and Wired clients all off of the linksys router.

It doesnt work. The external interface is set for the cable modem and the internal is the router.

Ok now that is said i have some side questions.

1. Does the firewall have to be physically(cable wise) between the cloud (internet) and my internal network(everything after the router).

If it doesnt have to be PHYSICALLY in the middle Im guessing that i just setup the gateways and such to route all traffic through the asg.

    YES. Preferably run DHCP on ASG, not the router.

    Keep the wiring the way you had it, but move the wire between the ASG and the linksys to the LAN ports on the linksys.

    Gateway for ASG would be the ISP, gateway for the LAN would be ASG.
    The router doesn't need to know any gateway info, but if you want to be able to administer it, make sure you have it's INT admin IP on the same subnet as your LAN.
    The router will be working as a wireless bridge and switch, not as a router.

    There are lots of other posts on this forum like this... search for wireless or linksys.

    You'll see that many people prefer to put the wireless on a separate DMZ for more security.

    Let me verify my network interfaces on the asg box with you.

    You have very likely misconfigured your External or Internal NICs. They should not be on the same subnet unless you are running Astaro in bridged mode, which is not likely to be what you want.

    Typically, you will setup the External address to obtain an IP address via DHCP.

    The Internal and PC look fine.
