DHCP Static Mapping MAC address bug?

I am trying to set up some static mappings for a couple of notebooks.  So eventhough they use dhcp, they get the same address, so I can set them up in my DNS accordingly.

No big deal.  I have worked enough on the RFCs to do this....

So what is wrong with the MAC address of:

00:1b:24:44:e0:3b

Error message I am getting is:

This does not look like a valid MAC address.

I have tried it both in lower case letters as above and in upper case: 00:1B:24:44:E0:3B

Now this is really insulting.  I got the MAC address from copying it from Current IP Leasing Table!

The Ethernet interface in question is a Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet, built into my HP Compaq nc2400 notebook.

So why is this invalid?
