accessing iTunes and Web Videos

You've set up a base NAT/Masquarade rule to let all traffic from inside to go out, and you've set up a packet filter to let everything go out too? 

Are you using web content filtering also?

The only packet filter I setup in addition to the ones there by default in a ASG 7 system is Internal, Any Service, to Any.

The NAT has a default rule I didn't change, Internal to  external. 

On HTTP proxy tab, I originally tried the default Transparent. and only added an exception for .exe from a patch site for games. It already had one for Microsoft and apple updates.

I now am using Standard Proxy and I changed my browsers to use a proxy. Not sure of the video success yet. It seems to download the complete video before showing you anything. For comedy central, that get confused and it just goes to the next video and never shows you what you wanted.

I'm not sure I understand the question about AV turned on. Could you elaborate please?

If you have the http proxy turned on, and are scanning http with antivirus (antivirus tab under http proxy area), it will download and scan the whole stream before showing you anything.

Is Anti-Virus enabled under Web Security>HTTP>Anti-Virus Tab and Web Security>HTTP Profiles>Filter Actions is what I think he is asking.  [:)]

I found that the AV scanning of downloads was causing iTunes to fail when fetching podcasts.  It was asking for the podcast and then ASG was downloading not iTunes, this caused iTunes to think the download had failed.  I had to disable AV scanning for my host running iTunes.  This isn't ideal though, I'd like to leave it on and set an exclusion for .mp3 files, but there is no way to do that as it's all or nothing for AV scanning.

Yes I have AV scanning on. I'm not sure how to setup an exception because a lot of videos and podcasts come from akami.net or some where else.

I put in an exception for no AV on akamai.net and that fixed the Comedy Central video problem. However, now I have to trust them to not have content with viruses

Do you think they are working on a way to solve this? I've had to complete remove AV for HTTP under Web security. What could Astaro do to allow streaming video and audio without complete removing AV for Web access. Nobody serves their own video so putting in exceptions is a real research project.

What Astaro could do would be to give us back the Regular Expressions whitelist option that we used to have in Version 6.x ... with it, you could enter an expression that would whitelist streaming media files, but no other content on a site (thus at least most of the content site's content would be subject to AV, etc, but not the streaming files)... there's even a KB article with some prefab Regular Expressions for popular media types, but, of course, this doesn't work in Version 7.  I've been told that they will add this feature back in, but it's been a long time since I was told that by Astaro.
