ping without mascarade

Hi all,
I have a v6 ALS with 3 nics (adsl,internal,dmz)

I have a machine on the DMZ that needs to ping several macines on the internet.  I find that despite have all the ping options enable, that I can not ping the internet from the DMZ.  I have a DNAT rule :-

   vhost-167   All -> Vhost_167 / All   None   ***007 

to allow any traffic to my server and I have tried everything in the packet rules from in/out ping to any and the server can still not ping the internet.

However, if I put  Mascarade rule in like:-

z_DMZ_Internet_Access   DMZ (Network) -> All / All   MASQ__ADSL   None 

I can get pings out to the internet.

My question is, how can I get pings out to the internet without the mascarade rule?
