Addtional addresses on external interfaces

Hi,

I've added 2 addiditonal ip-addresses on the external interface and created a DNAT rule for one of them. However, it doesn't work. Pinging these addresses also doesn't work. request time out. Pinging the primary address works fine. Any one knows what's going on ? 

Subnetmask of IP-range (8 addresses) is 255.255.255.248, I've also tried 255.255.255.255 as subnet mask on this additional address, but still no go,.

From the internal network, pinging these addresses gives a reply, when pinging them from the internet it doesn't work. Any suggestions ?

    If you can ping them from the Internal network, that is a good indication that you actually have configured them correctly on the WAN interface. For additional addresses bound to an interface, the netmask 255.255.255.255 is proper.

    My guess would be that the problem is with your ISP, and not with the ASG box. Some ISPs require registration of IP addresses with their MAC address before they can be used.

    Sorry. It is version 7.004. It appears that after several hours, these IP addresses were also reachable from the WAN side. Don't know why it took so long. Maybe something with the router in front of it ?

    Very common, your ISP's ARP tables probably refresh every four hours such as mine. Those external IPs will work, just have to wait to be entered into the ARP tables. Although my ISP says there shouldn't be a delay. Their just wrong, that's all!
