Does anyone know how to (maybe a workaround) block skype, with ASG7
Skype will go out on PORT 80 if it can .. so use HTTP Proxy with some authentication, then SKYPE "sneaks off" to other high ports, by default you should not have "ANY" from say Internal to ANY so it gets blocked .. all down to network design really. If a business NETWORK, put say SERVERS and things like WSUS servers etc in their own LAN and use a separate http profile just for workstations .... There is a VERY long and detailed and informative note on FORUM from Gert about HTTP Profiles ... (thats what we do !)
I tried to download this document but it was not possible. My configuration is already set to allow only port 80 and 443 over http proxy. All other ports are closed or not allowed. But at the link from bitonw there is a really nice schema how smart skype is. At the moment I couldnot find a workaround to stop skype traffic. So I thought someone from the forum know a tricky solution.
