IM/P2P rule on profile.

Hi everyone,

I understand n know that we can control IM nd P2P. But can we do it on per user basis?

If you can use the SOCKS proxy for the IM or P2P apps, you can setup user authentication with it.

I wouldn't really recommend SOCKS for P2P though.

Also, SOCKS seems to be broken so far in 7.x

Another option is IP-based rules for the users in question.

If i were to link it with Active Directory using LDAP. Can i use user profile to restrict access?

No... the IM / P2P filtering is managed by the IPS module. The IPS does not support any kind of user authentication.
