Packet Filter - Allow All

I am having some problems with a couple applications on my MAC and I suspect that Astaro (v7.02) is the cause.  I have basic user authentication enabled and most of the stuff on my Mac works okay.  But I can't get Zinio to download magazines and Virus Barrier can't connect to the server.  In Astaro definitions I have my Mac setup as a host.  So if I create the rule: 
Mac Host > Any > Any, Allow.  Doesn't this essentially allow everything through if it's from the mac?  I created this rule and it hasn't helped my problems.  I would have thought that it would act as if there was no firewall at all.

    Do you have Masquerading configured?

    Are you using the http proxy in standard or transparent mode?
    If transparent, I'd guess that your apps aren't able to understand they're going through a proxy, or the authentication.

    For masquerading I have:
    Internal (Network) > External (WAN)
    DMZ (Network) >  External (WAN)

    My MAC is on the internal network.

    For HTTP proxy I have Basic User Authentication

    In my Mac, there are some network setting where you can enter the proxy info.  I've got this setup and it works for most of my stuff.

    Try removing the proxy setting info on your Mac... some apps just don't understand proxies... you'll have to create special bypass rules for these apps.
