Hardware Option for Astaro

We are already having a mail server and linux based firewall with openVPN at our branch office.Now we plan to get Astaro Security Gateway 120.I hope this is enough for a network with 100 users or should we go for Gateway 220.
I have gone thru the comparision and i dont understand what does the E-mails per day 350,000,E-mail Encryption and filtering option help me,as we are already having a dedicated mail server.

    You have the option of having ASL do mail relaying, optionally including anti-spam and anti-virus. If you don't use those options, you don't need to worry about their performance.

    How much internet bandwidth do you have? Do you have a DMZ? If so, it it 100mbit or GigE?

    Would you be using the web content filtering or caching?

    Does the anti-spam,anti-virus and content filtering come as additional modules or is it already included?Is it possible to NAT so that i can put all the servers behind Private IP and use the Public IP for the firewall interface and DMZ? 
    Yes we have a DMZ and bandwidth is 100mbit.The internet bandwidth is 30MB

    Depending on which license you would be getting, it is sometimes more cost-effective to get the hardware appliance.
    Performance-wise, you can easily build something faster than a 120.

    IIRC, AV and mail filtering is not included in the base license in 6.x, and web content filtering is extra in 7.x.

    Depending on how large your DMZ is, you may not want to NAT it.
    You can NAT your internal LAN, no problem.

    30mbit is quite a bit of bandwidth... I'm just guessing, but if you're using the IPS and/or web content filtering/AV, the 120 probably wouldn't be fast enough. If you're not using any of those features, it should be fine.

    We like the software version because:

    1) we can use an old desktop or server computer.

    2) disaster recovery - I don't have to wait on an appliance to be shipped - don't have to deal with getting it shipped.  Just hand: the CD-ROM, backup config, manual, any instalation notes, computer, to someone that works with me and they can be up an running quickly!

    3) no hardware obsolessance.

    But what if the hardware requirements grow?  No big deal.  You probably need to pgrade someones machine anyway, use thier ol one.  Hardware is cheap anyway.

    My support will be differnet; features different - not really, a few LEDS you wont have fro the front panel.  But, really, you need to be reviewing your logs - not the LEDs.

    You can easily build a machine around ipcop that will do what you are looking to do for nothing and will avoid astaro's current beta v7 product.  V6 might be an option as well.  Check what your requirements are for the firewall..ytou may be able to save yourself some big bucks and frustration.
