Setting Up ASG behind a NAT-Router

Hi all

I want to run an ASG behind my existing NAT-Router (which i got from my Provider T-Com, called "Speedport W700V").

I'm able to configure an "NAT-Server" at the Speedport so it will forward all Ports to a specified IP. I think this IP should be the ASG then.

An kolleque said that i have to add an new Masquerading Rule to get an internet-connection through my router. I'm not sure about "Masquerading", how it works and why i need it?

And what about DNS? Do i have to add an Ip-Forwarder Entry to my Router or to my providers DNS-Server?

Another Question is if MSN-Webcam sessions will work? With any other Firewall i've tried it, i had to open a huge incoming port range to get it working... [:S]

    The NAT-Server mode will probably be OK.
    Bridged mode would be better, if that is available.

    You will probably need a MASQ rule for Internal to MASQ to the Astaro External interface.

    DNS... point the Astaro DNS proxy at your ISP's DNS servers.

    MSN... does it support a SOCKS proxy? If so, you're in luck.

    Astaro is better than your NAT router.  Try turning off the NAT on your service provider router and enjoy the full benefits of the Astaro.
