Problem with Link Aggregation in V7.001

If I build a Link Aggregation Group out of 2 NIC's, I lose the link that I had before on only one of the two NIC's.

I want to use it just for failover reasons - every NIC is on another identical switch.

It doesn't matter, if the NIC's are connected to a switch or not - I tested this.

In the Network->Interfaces Tab the interface (lag0) shows as "Up". In the Dashboard it correctly shows as State "Up" and Link "Down".

Did I find a bug? Or do I miss something?

Hi tobias,

what kind of NIC's are you using?

Same Chipset on both cards?

Are you using Marvell chipset cards?

Hi Gert!

Yes, same chipset on both cards - both are only Interfaces of the same Card: D-Link DFE 580TX.

Why I don't know, i'am using this card in a V6.303 High Avilibility System.
Can't I upgrade later to V7?

Well in the meantime I found this portion of the HCL..

But later on I will test this HA-Setup, too.

I'll post my experiences here.

The DFE-580TX NIC uses the sundance linux driver, which is largely unmaintained AFAIK. With V6 we had some problems with this HW, also note that these cards are one of the cheapest available. For V7 we decided to no longer support it.

I use this NIC now with HA (HotStandby) without problems. I couldn't test the Link Aggregation Feature because it is not really what I wanted to use. I need a solution for a failover on the internal side of the Firewall - to be highly available even if the internal switch (correctly said: one of the internally connected switches) is going down.

The Astaro Staff just told me the card isn't supported.

So for the HCL: change the status from "not supported" to "expected to work" (if anyone from Astaro read this thread).
