Initial request to my HTTP servers is slow (kinda stalls first)...

Hi Guys,

I have certainly misconfigured something here, but I have no idea where to start looking.

My DMZ runs DNAT, the Web Servers have a 192.168.x.x IP internally and externally that have there own routable IP address.

The firewall has virtual interfaces for all the Web servers' external IP addresses.

My problem is when I access one of my firewalled Web servers, Firefox responds:

Waiting for www.nicesite.xyz...

This is on the screen for almost exactly 20 seconds, then I get the page perfectly.

If I don't wait too long to access another page, it will work nicely - if I wait too long I will have to wait 20 seconds again to get the next page.

I'm only having this problem with HTTP (80), with DNS queries and VNC connections everything is as you would expect - nice and fast [:D]

    I don't know if this means anything, but:

    While Firefox is displaying the message: Waiting for www.nicesite.xyz, nothing shows up in the netstat -na list for the server.

    Only after 20 seconds does the connection show up in the netstat -na list and the page appears in the browser at the same time.

    Rings any bells?
