Hi,
Recently installed Astaro 6.303 to protect my home network (UK) and to further my personal education and so far I'm very happy with the product. I have web browsing, email and DNS all working well via the proxies (so the family is happy).
However I seem to be missing something obvious with the packet filtering.
I have ADSL, a Thomson speedtouch router configured as a modem and the Astaro connecting via PPPoE. I am trying to run an ADSL speedtest at http://www.adslguide.org/tools/speedtest.asp without any success (I have tried at several different times so I don't think the server is down).
The website says that in the event that the test generates the message
"** An error has occurred while testing **
Unable to connect, please try again later."
to check any firewall settings and to ensure that TCP port 8095 is available both in and out.
I have defined an ADSL Service:
Source port TCP 1024:65535, destination port 8095
I have defined and enabled two Packet Filter rules (placed at 1 & 2) with this service:
Source internal(network), Destination any
Source any, Destination internal(network)
But the application still doesn't work. I have queried the packet filter logs using PT=8095 but I only get one line returned:
2006:11:01-15:33:58 (none) ulogd[1938]: ACCEPT: IN=eth0 OUT=ppp0 MAC=00:10:b5:c5:69:f2:00:0e:a6:50:0a:78:08:00 SRC=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx DST=80.249.99.123 LEN=48 TOS=00 PREC=0x00 TTL=127 ID=38618 CE DF PROTO=TCP SPT=1612 DPT=8095 SEQ=3283887183 ACK=0 WINDOW=65535 SYN URGP=0
There doesn't appear to be any response.
So then I tried disabling my two rules and just added a rule using the 'any' service from network 'any' to network 'any' with the same result. This suggests to me that I am missing something fairly simple.
Can anyone help, please? TIA
