Astaro 5 and Half Bridge Mode

Hi all,

I have a small issue with Astaro 5 and an ADSL modem in half bridge mode.
everything is configured ok and works when powered on. The reason I use half bridge mode is so that I can create IPSEC VPN's to other sites.

The issue appears when the ADSL connection drops which is quite common. As the modem comes back up it waits to pass the IP address to the firewall external interface, but Astaro still retains the original IP (static though) and does not renew the IP from the modem/ This obviously causes the internet connections to fail as the modem is waiting to pass the IP to astaro. 

The only way around this is to either restart the firewall or disable interface and reenable which is difficult if you are not on site. 

Has anyone else experienced this and have any advice ?

    Thanks for the Reply Simon, it has happened on two different modem/routers so this pointed me to the firewall. interestingly it has happened more often since our line has been upgraded to 8Mbps but it did occur before. It definately doesn't come back as it happened again last night and I couldn't get on until I was back in the office. I wondered whether their was some DHCP timeout or renegotiation that could be set on Astaro.

    I'll take a look at the firewall, it may be time to rebuild it anyway.
