Domain Issue

ok so Im new here im one of thes people who learned of this listening to leo laporte and like to run thinsg that are over kill for me but it helps me learn. here is my issue 

i an running a domain controller and since I brought the astaro gateway up i cant assign sharing permissions or have users login in on the workstations there are 3 computers (i know no point in domain controller) but i like the eas of use any ideas thankyou

    Are the domain controller and the workstations all on the same network?
    Can you ping the domain controller?

    Some more info would be nice... Like how your network is setup.
    Are you using DHCP ?  If so, which box is issuing IP addresses?

    he is configured so that

    • sever and workstations are on the same network (filesharing works by dns name)
    • asg is doing dhcp
    • server is regesterd as static in dhcp window
    • everything else is dynamic
    • asg is configured for standard internet acsess from internal

    What are you using as a DNS server?
    On the internal network, please use the domain controller as primary DNS.

    On the domain controller, set it to use the ASG box as a forwarder DNS server for names that the DC can't resolve.

    On the ASG set your ISP's DNS servers in the DNS proxy and set ASG to listen on Internal network and allow internal network access to DNS proxy.

    So...

    Clients use the DC as DNS and the DC uses ASG as DNS and ASG uses ISP as DNS.

    Do *NOT* put the DC's DNS entry in the ASG's proxy, I've had nasty loops doing that.

    I suspect it's a name resolution issue.
